This was put together in a week! T'was a mad rush. Originally Donna had been doing Belle in the Disney group, but since she pulled out I decided to get this done last minute! As a result I had to comprimise and the skirt was not finished (it lacked the gathers and the trim around it). Still I intend on finishing this so I can take some photos at a later date, so for the time being this costume is still 'in progress'.
The dress itself, despite being a wedding dress pattern, wasn't too bad to do really! My only real calamity was my own stupid fault. When making the collar the 1st time around I went to iron it and burnt it. Whoops! Everything else I was really lucky with. The white prom gloves I had dyed a perfect shade of yellow, I also found some perfect yellow heels (I needed high ones to stop the dress dragging on the floor) the day before! I had to paint some earrings to match but they came out okay too.
As I mentioned in the october Expo report, wearing Belle was so much fun! I was thrown back by the response, it was fantastic. I kept telling everyone how it wasn't finished, but I guess little kids don't mind, they were the best part. The nickelodeon kids choice awards were going on at the same time at the Excel centre so the place was packed with kids! It was awesome. One American came up to us to take pictures of the princesses to show her girl back home, it was so sweet. We also got a fantastic reception at the masquerade.
