Amecon 2006 report
Amecon 2006 was my first ever convention and will always hold a special place in my heart. I met so many great friends, I am so glad I still went despite the friend who originally pursuaded me to go dropping out! I'd always wanted to cosplay, and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. I only wish I had more time, most of my cosplays were a bit ghetto looking in one way or the other and have all been improved in some way since.
I travelled up on the train with a guy called Jon I'd met on the forums who was happy to come up with me. I was so glad! Travelling all that way on my own was such a scary idea (up until then I'd never been further than London on the train and I'd never been on my own!). At London I met more guys who soon became fond friends, specifically Charlie and Trevor, and then met the crazy guys who are the Baka Rangers! Being submitted to them all at once was quite a scary thing, and I was quite happy to find a few girls amoungst them.
The weekend went by at such a quick rate, and it's a blur looking back on it now. My favourite thing I discovered there was definitely Singstar! I was always a gamer as a kid, but I didn't really excel at many of the games (could beat my brother at Tekken though and I was fiercly protective of my pokemon games..). But I'd never played Singstar before, but I beat someone! I was so happy my friends couldn't get me off of the damn thing most of the time we were there. Singstar for me is now a requirement to every party!
